World Amateur Highland Games Championship: Saturday, August 19th

Come be a spectator in celebration of Scottish and Celtic culture with the Highland Games! The 11th Annual World Amateur Highland Heavy Games Championships will be held on Saturday in Shepherd’s Green with the top ten amateurs from across the nation competing. The best will claim the World Amateur Title and the opportunity to earn their professional status in the sport.

10:00am-12:00pm: Hammer Throw, Stone of Strength, Weight for Distance

2:00pm-4:00pm: Caber Toss, Sheaf Toss, Weight for Height


Minnesota State Highland Games & Midwest Women’s Highland Games: Sunday, August 20th

Join in the tradition of Scottish history with men and women from across the Midwest as they compete in the Highland Games. Cheer on your favorite contestants as they compete in strength and endurance challenges. Let the games begin Sunday in Shepherd’s Green!

Keg Toss

Think you have what it takes to be a Highland Gamer? Test your strength at the keg toss that is held daily at 1:00pm in Shepherd’s Green.


Kilt Competition

Got Scottish pride and a competitive spirit? Show off those legs or cheer loud for your favorite contestant in the daily Kilt Competition. Enjoy Scottish dress as we search for the Best Kilt in the Realm! Held daily on the Pavilion Stage at 3:00pm.


FREE Guinness Tastings

Join us for a FREE Guinness Tasting at Shepherd’s Green from 12:00 – 3:00pm. Sample five flavors of Guinness while you learn about the brand and how each variety is made. Tasting is first come, first served; everyone must have a valid ID by order of his Majesty King Henry and the State of Minnesota. No Exceptions!
